Linking Awareness Adventure with Orangutans 2017

Participants had a fantastic opportunity to support the Orangutans of Tanjung Puting National Park during these difficult times.  In early August of 2016 a high state of emergency has been declared in West Borneo and the threat of forests being burnt to the ground is imminent once again. The Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) is now critically endangered according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). This change means that both species of orangutan (Bornean and Sumatran)  now face an “extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.

We spent four days connecting with the Orangutans in the heart of their territory and the territory of the heart. Special thanks to Fardi for excellent service, guiding, and generous sharing of knowledge and wisdom.
